Challenge Yourself and Try Something New! ๐๏ธ
We all want to work as efficiently as possible. We want to get things done.
Donโt get me wrong, I donโt mean to rush things. I mean to complete tasks with the best possible quality in the most efficient way.
Usually, we use everything we learned throughout our whole career. We avoid pitfalls (that we already fell into in the past), have a feeling for what solution works best in a given scenario, etc.
Do we have all the necessary information to get the best possible result?
No.
But that is okay. We cannot know it all. Otherwise, we would end up in analysis paralysis and never get to work, and tasks would fall off the table.
Thatโs why we rely on our gut feeling and experience to make the right-enough decision as fast as possible.
However, sometimes, a new input is helpful.
We have all experienced it when a new team member joins a project and asks, โAre you sure this is the right way to do X? Have you thought about doing Y instead?โ
Sometimes, we have to explore new things.
Exploring new things allows us to see the same situation differently.
I set out to challenge myself this year. I donโt know where this content creation and my software company will lead me. However, I committed to becoming the fittest version of myself (in a long time).
Today, I will run my first 10 km race.
Sometimes, you must try something new to see if you learn something for the future.
What will you try this year? What is your 2024 challenge? Think of ways to explore new things and grow as a person or developer.
