Learning by Teaching Is Underrated đź’ˇ
I recently started recording new modules and lessons for my Zero To Mastery C# and .NET Bootcamp course.
The module is about ASP.NET Core Fundamentals.
I have worked with ASP.NET Core since its inception in the early days of .NET Core in 2016.
Nonetheless, I learn a lot by going through the preparation and recording of the lessons.
The best thing about teaching something is that you really need to understand the topic. Otherwise, what you say and how you approach the topic doesn’t make sense.
The same is true for other areas.
For example, I’m an avid Counter-Strike player, having played this game since 2003. Yet, some things are just done the way we always have.
When you play with new players, you understand that explaining the fundamentals of the game is more challenging than relying on your decades of experience.
You might not record an online course, and you might not be an avid gamer.
However, as a developer, you’ll most likely know a few things that others don’t yet.
Think of ways how to educate those developers around you.
You could start giving free talks during lunchtime or ask people to stay after the work day has ended.
You’ll learn as much as the developers sitting around you, eager to learn something interesting from you.
Learn. Teach. Repeat.
