Microsoft BUILD 2025: The Best Sessions for .NET Developers
After sharing a few personal stories and spending time on vacation, I want to dive deep into hands-on .NET content in the Summer.
Today, we start with the most relevant sessions from this year’s Microsoft BUILD 2025 conference for .NET developers.
- If you only have 15 minutes during your coffee break, I recommend the 15-minute version of Satya Nadella’s keynote.
- The most watched and most impressive session for me was the 60-minute live-coding session with Mark Russinovich and Scott Hanselman, where they showcased what’s possible with today’s (AI) tooling and .NET development.
- Highlights from the 45-minute VS Code session include a demo of multi-repo workspaces, the new extension APIs, and the improved debugging and testing experience for .NET developers.
- Dastin Campbell and Mads Torgersen (chief C# language designer) talked about what’s coming with C# 14. It’s always great to get an early sneak peek into what we can expect later in the year.
- Damien Edwards shows how to run C# code with a single C# code file (no project file required) in 15 minutes.

Free Generative AI for Beginners Course
One last thing to note this week is the Generative AI for Beginners course. It’s a hands-on course designed for .NET developers who want to explore the world of generative AI.
Microsoft provides in-depth learning experiences with short 5-10-minute videos explaining all the important concepts and patterns.
I admit I have yet to go through the whole course, but from what I already saw, it’s definitely worth spending the time to educate yourself on the fundamental principles of generative AI and how to use it with .NET.
