There Is No Such Thing as Talent or Is There?
After working out three times per week for 4-5 months, I finally started to see some results.
It’s not the marginal weight loss. It’s the possibility of running for 5 or 10 km without taking walking breaks.
What does that have to do with talent?
Well, there are certainly people who are more talented than others in certain areas.
For example, I learn (not only programming) languages a lot faster compared to most people.
I consider myself talented when it comes to learning new languages.
However, there are so many people who speak the languages I learned better than I do.
Why is that the case?
They put in more effort. They are consistent. They use the language more. They practice their skills more often and more efficiently.
When it comes to software development, there are many talented developers.
I don’t know how much talent I have - I started with programming at the age of 12 years. Is it really talent if you practice every day for 22 years straight?
I strongly believe that hard work beats talent long-term.
IÂ shared it in June 2019 on Twitter, and I still believe it.
Whenever I face a challenge, such as running a specific distance, I remember that I might not be able to do it today, but with enough repetition and hard work, I might achieve it in the future.
And you should too!
Remember to always help people around you. They might struggle with software development, and you can help them overcome obstacles on their journey.
We’re in this together.
